Disclaimer: I am not and have never been affiliated with any of the mentioned parties in a private or professional matter. Presumably in an attempt to smear a local competitor, Hayden Otto inadvertently publishes irrefutable on-chain proof that he excluded non-BCH retail revenue to shape the "BCH #1 in Australia" narrative.
Scroll down to "Proof of exclusion" if you are tired of the drama recap.
Scroll down to "TLDR" if you want a summary.
In September 2019, BitcoinBCH.com started publishing so called monthly "reports" about crypto retail payments in Australia. They claimed that ~90% of Australia's crypto retail revenue is processed via their own HULA system and that ~92% of all crypto retail revenue happens in BCH. They are aggregating two data sources to come up with this claim. One is TravelByBit (TBB) who publishes their PoS transactions (BTC, LN, ETH, BNB, DASH, BCH) live on a ticker. The other source is HULA, a newly introduced POS system (BCH only) and direct competitor to TBB run by BitcoinBCH.com - the same company who created the report. Despite being on-chain their transactions are private, not published and not verifiable by third parties outside BitcoinBCH.com Two things stood out in the "reports", noted by multiple users (including vocal BCH proponents):
The non-BCH parts must have tx excluded and the report neglects to mention it (the total in their TBB analysis does not match what is reported on the TBB website.)
The BCH part has outliers included (e.g. BCH city conference in September with 35x the daily average)
Hayden Otto's reaction
In direct response to me publishing these findings on btc, Hayden Otto - an employee at BitcoinBCH.com and the author of the report who also happens to be a moderator of /BitcoinCash - banned me immediately from said sub (source). In subsequent discussion (which repeated for every monthly "report" which was flawed in the same ways as described above), Hayden responded using the same tactics: "No data was removed"
"The guy is straight out lying. There is guaranteed no missing tx as the data was collected directly from the source." (source)
"Only data I considered non-retail was removed"
"I also had these data points and went through them to remove non-retail transactions, on both TravelbyBit and HULA." (source)
He admits to have removed non-BCH tx by "Game Ranger" because he considers them non-retail (source). He also implies they might be involved in money laundering and that TBB might fail their AML obligations in processing Game Ranger's transactions (source). The report does not mention any data being excluded at all and he still fails to explain why several businesses that are clearly retail (e.g. restaurants, cafes, markets) had tx excluded (source). "You are too late to prove I altered the data"
"[...] I recorded [the data] manually from https://travelbybit.com/stats/ over the month of September. The website only shows transactions from the last 7 days and then they disappear. No way for anyone to access stats beyond that." (source)
Proof of exclusion
I published raw data as extracted from the TBB site after each report for comparison. Hayden responded that I made those numbers up and that I was pulling numbers out of my ass. Since he was under the impression that
"The website only shows transactions from the last 7 days and then they disappear. No way for anyone to access stats beyond that." (source)
he felt confident to claim that I would be
unable to provide a source for the [missing] data and/or prove that that data was not already included in the report. (source)
Luckily for us Hayden Otto seems to dislike his competitor TravelByBit so much that he attempted to reframe Bitcoin's RBF feature as a vulnerability specific to TBB PoS system (source). While doublespending a merchant using the TBB PoS he wanted to prove that the merchant successfully registered the purchase as complete and thus exposed that the PoS sales history of TBB's merchants are available to the public (source), in his own words:
"You can literally access it from a public URL in the Web browser. There is no login or anything required, just type in the name of the merchant." (source)
As of yet it is unclear if this is intentional by TBB or if Hayden Ottos followed the rules of responsible disclosure before publishing this kind of data leak. As it happens, those sale histories do not only include the merchant and time of purchases, they even include the address the funds were sent to (in case of on-chain payments). This gives us an easy method to prove that the purchases from the TBB website missing in the reports belong to a specific retail business and actually happened - something that is impossible to prove for the alleged HULA txs. In order to make it easier for you to verify it yourself, we'll focus on a single day in the dataset, September 17th, 2019 as an example:
Hayden Otto's report claims 20 tx and $713.00 in total for that day (source)
The TBB website listed 40 tx and a total of $1032.90 (daily summary)
Paste the associated crypto on-chain address 17MrHiRcKzCyuKPtvtn7iZhAZxydX8raU9 in a blockchain explorer of your choice, e.g like this. This proves that a transfer of funds has actually happened.
I let software aggregate the TBB statistics with the public sale histories and you'll find at the bottom of this post a table with the on-chain addresses conveniently linked to blockchain explorers for our example date. The total of all 40 tx is $1032.90 instead of the $713.00 reported by Hayden. 17 tx of those have a corresponding on-chain address and thus have undeniable proof of $758.10. Of the remaining 23, 22 are on Lightning and one had no merchant history available. This is just for a single day, here is a comparison for the whole month.
TBB wo. Game Ranger
TBB according to Hayden
The usual shills will respond in a predictive manner: The data must be fake even though its proof is on-chain, I would need to provide more data but HULA can be trusted without any proof, if you include outliers BCH comes out ahead, yada, yada. But this is not important. I am not here to convince them and this post doesn't aim to. The tx numbers we are talking about are less than 0.005% of Bitcoin's global volume. If you can increase adoption in your area by 100% by just buying 2 coffees more per day you get a rough idea about how irrelevant the numbers are in comparison. What is relevant though and what this post aims to highlight is that BitcoinBCH.com and the media outlets around news.bitcoin.com flooding you with the BCH #1 narrative are playing dirty. They feel justified because they feel that Bitcoin/Core/Blockstream is playing dirty as well. I am not here to judge that but you as a reader of this sub should be aware that this is happening and that you are the target. When BitcoinBCH.com excludes $1,000 Bitcoin tx because of high value but includes $15,000 BCH tx because they are made by "professionals", you should be sceptical. When BitcoinBCH.com excludes game developers, travel businesses or craftsmen accepting Bitcoin because they don't have a physical store but include a lawyer practice accepting BCH, you should be sceptical. When BitcoinBCH.com excludes restaurants, bars and supermarkets accepting Bitcoin and when pressed reiterate that they excluded non-retail businesses without ever explaning why a restaurant shouldn't be considered reatil, you should be sceptical. When BitcoinBCH.com claims the reports have been audited but omit that the data acquisition was not part of the audit, you should be sceptical. I expect that BitcoinBCH.com will stop removing transactions from TBB for their reports now that it has been shown that their exclusion can be provably uncovered. I also expect that HULA's BCH numbers will rise accordingly to maintain a similar difference. Hayden Otto assumed that nobody could cross-check the TBB data. He was wrong. Nobody will be able to disprove his claims when HULA's BCH numbers rise as he continues to refuse their release. You should treat his claims accordingly. As usual, do your own research and draw your own conclusion. Sorry for the long read.
BitcoinBCH.com claimed no transactions were removed from the TBB dataset in their BCH #1 reports and that is impossible to prove the opposite.
Hayden Otto's reveals in a double spend attempt that a TBB merchant's sale history can be accessed publicly including the merchant's on-chain addresses.
(For example,) this table shows 40 tx listed on the TBB site on Sep 17th, including their on-chain addresses where applicable. The BitcoinBCH.com report lists only 20 tx for the same day.
(Most days and every months so far has had BTC transactions excluded.)
(For September, TBB lists $10,502 yet the report only claims $3,737.

I’m the Chief Business Development Officer for TomoChain. Educationally I graduated university with degrees in both Industrial Engineering and Economics from Georgia Tech, and later earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. I grew up as a gaming addict and have a video game collection that is a bit unwieldy. Dozens of consoles and, at one point, over 13 classic arcade machines. So, before crypto, I spent much of my profession in the gaming space. I was a Game Designer, Game Producer, and eventually Studio Head for a major games studio that was recently purchased by Rockstar Games. I have run my own game-related tech businesses as well. I fell into crypto back in 2014, and over time it became a second passion of mine as I began to truly understand the value of decentralization. True ownership of data was not possible until Bitcoin came along and that is simply a powerful and game-changing message to a world structure built on an opposing foundation. Brief Introduction https://preview.redd.it/8p7jm15ul5t41.png?width=739&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b572bdee2c56ffa29a1d628dda7332fac0fac50 TomoChain is a Public Blockchain powered by Proof-of-Stake Voting. TomoChain launched into Mainnet 1 year ago in December 2018. It is secured by 150 Masternodes, of which I’m proud to be an operator myself. TomoChain is EVM Compatible and runs at a speedy 2000 TPS with a 2 Sec Blocktime. Gas fees are almost zero too. Based out of Vietnam, TomoChain is Southeast Asia’s largest public blockchain. We are focusing on developing a full suite of DeFi products. We also have commercial and enterprise clients. TomoChain has a number of major crypto-partnerships including notables like Neo Blockchain, Chainlink and Crypto.com. Our Masternode network is run by some of the most recognizable players in the space as well, including Neo Global Capital, CoinGecko, HashQuark, KuCoin, and more large players are on the way. TomoChain earned its place onto Binance.com with a fee-free listing last year by winning the BinanceDEX community vote in August 2019. Binance has written us up in a detailed Binance Research Report and awarded us the V-Label. We have also been in a number of their reports, including those related to Dapps and DeFi. We have been interviewed by Forbes.com official and had an in-person interview at NASDAQ, in the heart of Times Square, about TomoChain and our upcoming TomoX Protocol. In China, specifically, we have been integrated into and have solid relationships with various blockchain players including HashQuark, HashKey, CoboWallet, Conflux, and many others. We launched an Ecosystem Development partnership with Neo Blockchain last December and co-hosted a meetup + workshop with them as well. https://preview.redd.it/anszszoxl5t41.png?width=733&format=png&auto=webp&s=1b8930c8c3df9357109d49f67f1a35edd6f803d0 GEARED FOR REAL WORLD USE Now, let’s talk about how TomoChain has been built for real-world use. We’re looking at Payments & DeFi as low hanging fruit when it comes to user adoption and TomoChain is developing a suite of tools to support this. The biggest challenge for having users benefit from Blockchain on a day-to-day basis is how much friction is involved to acquire, store and use it. Even stable coins are dual currency systems. The Stablecoin and then the Native Token to pay gas fees. Blockchain is simply not user-friendly. Our view is that the true solution for Blockchain adoption by the world is end-users shouldn’t need to know they are using blockchain technology at all. It should be a hidden technology layer, similar to payment processor settlements or even the internet distribution centers/routers that power this very AMA we’re all participating in right now. Do we need to know the underlying technology infrastructure to use them? Nope. We are developing a system to hide this friction, so the TomoChain blockchain can be integrated into real-world applications that you use every day on mobile or web. There are 3 protocols that we are building to enable this future: (1) TomoZ: Zero Friction (2) TomoX: The DEX Protocol (3) TomoP: The Privacy Suite. https://preview.redd.it/irwduto4m5t41.png?width=741&format=png&auto=webp&s=56e21c8e56b86af197344d7a043d073456c53181 TomoZ: Zero Friction - Our TomoZ protocol is a core starting point to the solution for mass market use of blockchain technology. TomoZ: Zero Friction allows for token issuance and use by having gas fees paid by the token itself. That means you don’t need TOMO to send transactions. You don’t even need to know you’re using the TomoChain blockchain. So you could buy a cup of coffee at a café using loyalty points that are TomoZ tokens. The customers redeem for their coffee or earn it, but they don’t even have to know it’s a blockchain token which they actually own. This approach is structured to enable the next million-plus users to utilize blockchain as a technology layer. After all, the real value of any Blockchain is in its utilization of high-quality transactions. Now, TomoZ transactions aren’t FREE. It actually does use TOMO, but that’s hidden from the end-user. The way it works is that the token issuer deposits a small amount of TOMO into a pool. Every time the token is sent, TOMO is taken from this pool to pay the Masternodes. The key is that the end-user doesn’t need to get involved with internal workings, which is why we call it the Zero Friction protocol Now let’s talk about TomoX: The DEX Protocol TomoX is an upcoming DEX Protocol that allows anyone to launch their on permissionless Decentralized Exchange in minutes. It requires very little technical knowledge making it a near turn-key solution. TomoX is the fastest DEX experience since it’s a Layer 1 protocol. This means it’s run and secured by the entire TomoChain network. Our Masternodes manage the DEX instructions directly, rather than other DEXs that operate as a Layer 2 protocol. What this means is TomoX DEXs will operate at about 50x faster than a typical 0x exchange. That significantly improves the end-user experience. TomoX DEX operators have access to a shared liquidity pool across all DEXs. That means a user buying on one DEX can be matched with a user selling on another DEX. Of course, Operators can customize and choose which tokens to include. TomoX is fully decentralized since the Order Book is on-chain. Many other semi-decentralized exchanges store the OB on a centralized service in order to speed up the execution. That means there is a centralized point of weakness for them. TomoX minimizes custody and security challenges that centralized exchanges have too since all users are always in possession of their assets. TomoX is currently in testnet and you can checkout TomoChain’s own DEX, aptly called TomoDEX, here: https://dex.testnet.tomochain.com/ Here is a link to get some free Testnet TOMO that can be used on the testnet version of TomoDEX: https://faucet.testnet.tomochain.com/ And finally, there is TomoP: Privacy Suite - TomoP is currently in testnet and is going to be the FASTEST way to send tokens privately. 2-4 seconds fast! Any token issued on TomoChain will be able to utilize TomoP to send privately and anonymously. And that’s not all. We are including access to wrapped BTC, ETH, USDT, and other tokens that can also utilize the blazing speed and privacy that TomoP will offer. Dapp privacy is a major part of TomoP. It is going to allow for the creation of Dapps to be built to handle customer data with true privacy, including from the Dapp operators themselves. This can jumpstart a new wave of applications geared towards hiding user information, transactions, assets owned, etc. We are issuing a new token standard (TRC21p) which will be purely private. The only data available will be on its token supply. Token issuers can optionally provide auditing access to enforcement authorities to meet regulatory compliance. What this means is if the next Global PayPal/Skrill/Alipay competitor can build their service right on TomoChain and meet the most basic criteria required to stay above board in many jurisdictions. If you guys want to check TomoP on testnet go here and login: https://wallet.testnet.tomochain.com/ Get some free Testnet TOMO that can be used with the TomoP testnet: https://faucet.testnet.tomochain.com/ Questions from the host 1.It’s been stated that TomoChain was on track to be a cash flow positive business, is it currently cash flow positive? What services or products is it offering to bring in this revenue? Yes, absolutely. Our plan is to be cash flow positive this year. This really goes back to the level of experience our executive team has. Everyone is seasoned, having come from different fields, in big business and startups. Before the crazy boom of ICOs and IEOs, raising funding for traditional startups required considerable proof that there was market fit, that there were actual customers to drive revenue, and a model for growth. We knew that TomoChain’s funds raised during the ICO were for a space that has yet to prove itself so the company had to be smart in budgeting for an uncertain future. And part of that initial preparation was selling much of the ICO proceeds into fiat. Something MANY blockchain startups did not do, largely due to ambitious teams that are also headed by very inexperienced leaders. So while the bubble burst, we had capital to continue operations and to even scale it. And, we ARE running a business. A sustainable business requires us to identifying areas to generate income in order to minimize risk and to sustain the business in the long term. So we do both consulting and services work by helping clients to develop wallets, launch tokens (Orbyt), build exchanges (AIS), and of course enterprise solutions on the blockchain of which we have clients based out of Japan and in the Middle East using blockchain for traceability solutions across various industries from automotive, healthcare, and food. 2.What is the most strategical step TOMO is doing to bring adoption of TOMO coin to our daily lives? Empowering businesses with a truly scalable blockchain that can be used by thousands and millions of users. We see user adoption of blockchain coming from businesses that base their solutions on blockchain technology. And, TomoChain has a number of real income-generating companies that have built on us, from exchanges to payment services to enterprise clients. Not bad for 1 year I say, especially during a stagnant market. Here are some examples. UcarPac – A Top 10 User Car company in Japan is building traceability solutions on the blockchain. We completed a POC at the end of last year. After the assessment, the client decided it was solid and commissioned Phase 2 to expand the development of the project for commercialization purposes Triip Protocol – Triip is a destination service for travelers to book vacations powered by Blockchain. Triip is a Shark Tank Vietnam alumnus, and the first ICO on TomoChain. Users can book tours and staycations using Triip or TOMO tokens. WisePass – A service that sells subscription services to get discounted Starbucks, Singha Beer, and even makeup (of all things) integrated TomoChain as a payment solution “Undisclosed Vendor” – Soon to be announced, a large player in the corporate gift giving business is also launching a Dapp on TomoChain to allow for them to make purchases with TOMO across thousands of items. Maka - A peer-to-peer marketplace to conveniently buy/sell TOMO and other blockchain tokens using standard payment gateways, including e-wallets and bank transfers. Coin98 – A local Vietnam crypto media company launched an App to allow for their community to earn their TomoChain token called C98 and use it for products and services geared around investors and gamers. The reception has been HUGE. 95,000 users and generating 500K+ transactions on our blockchain within 3 months of their launch! They are proving that innovative new business models can be adopted relying on and being blockchain specific. https://preview.redd.it/mlol3zl6m5t41.png?width=759&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a516404ed6a15de0e56fd08ed1e354a53c4191e 3. Do you have any plans to collaborate with developers or attract more Dapps built on TomoChain? We are today. Our founders run the largest Blockchain Developer community in Vietnam and we work with a number of them to help develop solutions on the blockchain. Our team has held Hackathons a few times over the last couple years and we have done developer workshops too, including one with Neo Blockchain. And this year we are working closely with educational institutions to launch blockchain courses in Vietnam. Every Dapp developer we work with is a partner. We try to provide as much support as possible, both technical and marketing. A number of Dapps are games on TomoChain and we hold contests regularly to promote the developers and their titles. Since we are focusing on alleviating the friction of blockchain technology, we are building out an API that will make it even easier for developers to integrate blockchain into standard applications. This is intended to allow standard non-blockchain application developers to operate in an environment they are accustomed to while also having the benefit of blockchain technology accessible. Onboarding more developers will take time. However, I’m confident we’re on the cusp of something wonderful in the coming years that will change the relationship between users and applications enabled by blockchain. Entirely new economic structures can be set up since it’ll be the users owning all of their data for the first time in digital history. And true ownership is a powerful motivator that can be harnessed by innovative blockchain businesses.
#PundiX Announces Monthly Activity Recap for April 2019 #NPXS #XPOS #XPASS
https://preview.redd.it/xg99y1fmg5w21.png?width=1532&format=png&auto=webp&s=d34e133f89ee3d2a89bf4d3fe6345f2031f50170 Dear Pundians, We have been pushing and expanding our footprint globally and it wouldn’t have been possible without our community’s strong support, so we like to say thank you to each of you. Last month, our distribution partners launched a limited edition of the XPASS card and extended the reach of our blockchain technology to South Africa. The XPOS became the first blockchain device to receive the CE and TRA certification which will play a crucial part in a number of initiatives which we are rolling out. For more details of activities and progress in April, read on.
New XPOS merchant highlights and distribution partnerships
XPOS is the world first blockchain point of sale smart device to receive CE and TRA certification It is important for blockchain solutions to keep up with the fast pace of technology, but it is even more important for these solutions to be compliant with global health, safety, and environmental protection standards. April saw the first ever blockchain-based point-of-sales (POS) smart device to receive Conformité Européenne (CE) certification in the European Union after Pundi X met all the requirements and standards laid out by the European Economic Area (EEA). In addition, XPOS also received UAE TRA certification through ebooc, our partner in Dubai, to ensure that the rollout of Pundi X technology across the Emirates is in full compliance. https://preview.redd.it/8x1xqxnwi5w21.png?width=577&format=png&auto=webp&s=1edbc195fa01f03a17eba2bfdf82215f263c794a XWallet updated with FX conversion and an added 2FA feature To further assist token holders who are taking part in the NPXS and NPXSXEM conversion, the team has added a new feature in the XWallet app to facilitate the process. After introducing the FX staking mechanism in March, in order to ensure a fairer distribution and allow more people to participate in the conversion, the conversion mechanism has also been updated. The first-come, first-served component is deactivated during the first 20 seconds of each daily conversion period. Another feature added to the XWallet in April is Google Authenticator (GA) which is to achieve maximum security for XWallet accounts. In addition to SMS and Email verification codes, this is an additional two-step verification process to protect your account’s safety by using the One-time Password Algorithm within 30 seconds. The GA code can be used in the login, transfer and change login password options to achieve greater security for your XWallet accounts. To activate the GA verification service, you can follow the steps here. https://preview.redd.it/3r91d381j5w21.png?width=522&format=png&auto=webp&s=0bbb711c52d45f2363a499c491e901f1c9b4256c

Hi, for everyone looking for help and support for IOTA you have come to the right place. Please read this information, the FAQ and the side bar before asking for help.
IOTA is an open-source distributed ledger protocol launched in 2015 that goes 'beyond blockchain' through its core invention of the blockless ‘Tangle’. The IOTA Tangle is a quantum-resistant Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG), whose digital currency 'iota' has a fixed money supply with zero inflationary cost. IOTA uniquely offers zero-fee transactions & no fixed limit on how many transactions can be confirmed per second. Scaling limitations have been removed, since throughput grows in conjunction with activity; the more activity, the more transactions can be processed & the faster the network. Further, unlike blockchain architecture, IOTA has no separation between users and validators (miners / stakers); rather, validation is an intrinsic property of using the ledger, thus avoiding centralization. IOTA is focused on being useful for the emerging machine-to-machine (m2m) economy of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), data integrity, micro-/nano- payments, and other applications where a scalable decentralized system is warranted.
Contrary to traditional blockchain based systems such as Bitcoin, where your wallet addresses can be reused, IOTA's addresses should only be used once (for outgoing transfers). That means there is no limit to the number of transactions an address can receive, but as soon as you've used funds from that address to make a transaction, this address should not be used anymore. The reason for this is, by making an outgoing transaction a part of the private key of that specific address is revealed, and it opens the possibility that someone may brute force the full private key to gain access to all funds on that address. The more outgoing transactions you make from the same address, the easier it will be to brute force the private key. It should be noted that having access to the private key of an address will not reveal your seed or the private key of the other addresses within your seed / "account". This piggy bank diagram can help visualize non reusable addresses. imgur link
When a new address is generated it is calculated from the combination of a seed + Address Index, where the Address Index can be any positive Integer (including "0"). The wallet usually starts from Address Index 0, but it will skip any Address Index where it sees that the corresponding address has already been attached to the tangle.
Private keys are derived from a seeds key index. From that private key you then generate an address. The key index starting at 0, can be incremented to get a new private key, and thus address. It is important to keep in mind that all security-sensitive functions are implemented client side. What this means is that you can generate private keys and addresses securely in the browser, or on an offline computer. All libraries provide this functionality. IOTA uses winternitz one-time signatures, as such you should ensure that you know which private key (and which address) has already been used in order to not reuse it. Subsequently reusing private keys can lead to the loss of funds (an attacker is able to forge the signature after continuous reuse). Exchanges are advised to store seeds, not private keys.
Sending a transaction will move your entire balance to a completely new address, if you have more than one pending transaction only one can eventually be confirmed and the resulting balance is sent to your next wallet address. This means that the other pending transactions are now sent from an address that has a balance of 0 IOTA, and thus none of these pending transactions can ever be confirmed.
As previously mentioned, in IOTA there are no miners. As such the process of making a transaction is different from any Blockchain out there today. The process in IOTA looks as follows:
Signing: You sign the transaction inputs with your private keys. This can be done offline.
Tip Selection: MCMC is used to randomly select two tips, which will be referenced by your transaction (branchTransaction and trunkTransaction)
Proof of Work: In order to have your transaction accepted by the network, you need to do some Proof of Work - similar to Hashcash, not Bitcoin (spam and sybil-resistance). This usually takes a few minutes on a modern pc.
After this is completed, the trunkTransaction, branchTransaction and nonce of the transaction object should be updated. This means that you can broadcast the transaction to the network now and wait for it to be approved by someone else.
How do I to buy IOTA?
Currently not all exchanges support IOTA and those that do may not support the option to buy with fiat currencies. One way to buy IOTA is to buy with bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH), first you will need to deposit BTC/ETH onto an exchange wallet and you can the exchange them for IOTA. You can buy BTC or ETH through coinbase. And exchange those for IOTA on Binance or Bitfinex (other exchanges do exist, some linked in the side bar). A detailed guide to buying can be found here.
What is MIOTA?
MIOTA is a unit of IOTA, 1 Mega IOTA or 1 Mi. It is equivalent to 1,000,000 IOTA and is the unit which is currently exchanged. We can use the metric prefixes when describing IOTA e.g 2,500,000,000 i is equivalent to 2.5 Gi. Note: some exchanges will display IOTA when they mean MIOTA.
Can I mine IOTA?
No you can not mine IOTA, all the supply of IOTA exist now and no more can be made. If you want to send IOTA, your 'fee' is you have to verify 2 other transactions, thereby acting like a minenode.
Where should I store IOTA?
It is not recommended to store large amounts of IOTA on the exchange as you will not have access to the private keys of the addresses generated. However many people have faced problems with the current GUI Wallet and therefore group consensus at the moment is to store your IOTA on the exchange, until the release of the UCL Wallet, or the Paper Wallet.
What is the GUI wallet?
What is the UCL Wallet?
What is a seed?
A seed is a unique identifier that can be described as a combined username and password that grants you access to your wallet. Your seed is used to generate the addresses linked to your account and so this should be kept private and not shared with anyone. If anyone obtains your seed, they can login and access your IOTA.
How do I generate a seed?
You must generate a random 81 character seed using only A-Z and the number 9. It is recommended to use offline methods to generate a seed, and not recommended to use any non community verified techniques. To generate a seed you could:
All seeds should be 81 characters in random order composed of A-Z and 9.
Do not give your seed to anyone, and don’t keep it saved in a plain text document.
Don’t input your seed into any websites that you don’t trust.
Is this safe? Can’t anyone guess my seed? What are the odds of someone guessing your seed?
IOTA seed = 81 characters long, and you can use A-Z, 9
Giving 2781 = 8.7x10115 possible combinations for IOTA seeds
Now let's say you have a "super computer" letting you generate and read every address associated with 1 trillion different seeds per second.
8.7x10115 seeds / 1x1012 generated per second = 8.7x10103 seconds = 2.8x1096 years to process all IOTA seeds.
Why does balance appear to be 0 after a snapshot?
When a snapshot happens, all transactions are being deleted from the Tangle, leaving only the record of how many IOTA are owned by each address. However, the next time the wallet scans the Tangle to look for used addresses, the transactions will be gone because of the snapshot and the wallet will not know anymore that an address belongs to it. This is the reason for the need to regenerate addresses, so that the wallet can check the balance of each address. The more transactions were made before a snapshot, the further away the balance moves from address index 0 and the more addresses have to be (re-) generated after the snapshot.
Why is my transaction pending?
IOTA's current Tangle implementation (IOTA is in constant development, so this may change in the future) has a confirmation rate that is ~66% at first attempt. So, if a transaction does not confirm within 1 hour, it is necessary to "reattach" (also known as "replay") the transaction one time. Doing so one time increases probability of confirmation from ~66% to ~89%. Repeating the process a second time increases the probability from ~89% to ~99.9%.
What does attach to the tangle mean?
The process of making an transaction can be divided into two main steps:
The local signing of a transaction, for which your seed is required.
Taking the prepared transaction data, choosing two transactions from the tangle and doing the POW. This step is also called “attaching”.
The following analogy makes it easier to understand:
Step one is like writing a letter. You take a piece of paper, write some information on it, sign it at the bottom with your signature to authenticate that it was indeed you who wrote it, put it in an envelope and then write the recipient's address on it. Step two: In order to attach our “letter” (transaction), we go to the tangle, pick randomly two of the newest “letters” and tie a connection between our “letter” and each of the “letters” we choose to reference.
The “Attach address” function in the wallet is actually doing nothing else than making an 0 value transaction to the address that is being attached.
How do I reattach a transaction.
Reattaching a transaction is different depending on where you send your transaction from. To reattach using the GUI Desktop wallet follow these steps:
Click 'Show Bundle' on the 'pending' transaction.
Click 'Rebroadcast'. (optional, usually not required)
Wait 1 Hour.
If still 'pending', repeat steps 1-5 once more.
What happens to pending transactions after a snapshot?
How do I recover from a long term pending transaction?
How can I support IOTA?
You can support the IOTA network by setting up a Full Node, this will help secure the network by validating transactions broadcast by other nodes. Running a full node also means you don't have to trust a 3rd party in showing you the correct balance and transaction history of your wallet. By running a full node you get to take advantage of new features that might not be installed on 3rd party nodes.
How to set up a full node?
To set up a full node you will need to follow these steps:
Download the full node software: either GUI, or headless CLI for lower system requirements and better performance.
Get a static IP for your node.
Join the network by adding 7-9 neighbours.
Keep your full node up and running as much as possible.
A detailed user guide on how to set up a VTS IOTA Full Node from scratch can be found here.
How do I get a static IP?
To learn how to setup a hostname (~static IP) so you can use the newest IOTA versions that have no automated peer discovery please follow this guide.
How do I find a neighbour?
Are you a single IOTA full node looking for a partner? You can look for partners in these place:
General info and list of exchanges for Apollo Currency (APL)
Apollo Currency The World's first all-in-one cryptocurrency incorporating every useful feature utilized in top tier currencies and combining those with unmatched privacy, all in a single decentralized platform. *NXT Holders - To take advantage of the Apollo airdrop simply login using your NXT credentials Home About Wallets Exchanges Coin Info Team Shop Whitepaper Roadmap More ... THE ULTIMATE CURRENCY GO TO APOLLO COIN INFORMATION About Apollo Utilizing a community of world-class developers, managers, marketers and researchers, the Apollo community, backed by the Apollo Foundation, has set out to accomplish the goal of making Apollo the most technologically advanced, feature-rich currency on the market. The Apollo Foundation understands the demands of a top tier cryptocurrency and they believe they can create a coin that will integrate everything necessary to replace the current currency options. Having started from NXT, a proven cryptocurrency, the Apollo Foundation will continue development with the goal of being first all-in-one cryptocurrency, innovating and incorporating every ability that could be beneficial in a digital currency, all in a single decentralized platform. The first major update, Olympus Protocol, puts mass adoption-proof privacy at Apollo's core. This is because the Apollo Foundation knows the ability for a user to buy, sell, trade and send in absolute secrecy is vital in an industry that could be moments away from intense regulation. The Apollo team is here because they believe the only person or entity that should be in control of your funds is you. FEATURES Olympus Protocol Olympus protocol will integrate functions allowing for the simple choice of whether to send publicly on the blockchain or privately using the blockchain. As part of this protocol we will be integrating an IP masking feature that will hide the user’s IP address. We are also working to secure a technology that would keep nodes from being blocked by entities. Olympus Protocol will help make Apollo the safest, most feature-rich privacy coin in existence. Decentralized Exchange The decentralized exchange is an important feature in the Apollo platform as it allows for the fast and private purchasing, selling and trading of all assets, tokens and currencies created within Apollo. We are in the process of also adding Bitcoin, Ethereum and many other well-known cryptocurrencies to this exchange. This will allow users the ability to buy and sell Apollo privately from any nation on Earth. Next-Generation Blockchain Having utilized NXT technology as our base, we are developing Hermes to be it's replacement. Hermes will allow the Apollo blockchain to grow faster and healthier the larger the Apollo user base grows, rather than slower as with most cryptocurrencies on the market. Where as our current speed may be 20 to 30 seconds on average (transaction times will differ) Hermes will allow for transaction speeds of 2-3 seconds. Our goal in integrating Hermes is to become the safest, fastest and most private cryptocurrency on the market. Alias System The alias system in Apollo can be used to create unique aliases that act as a representation for a specific set of text. This will encrypt the chosen text into the alias. This text could be your account number, a website, email address, etc. A specific alias can be claimed only once (like a domain name), therefore it can be sold privately or publicly and transferred to any other account. The most obvious use for an alias is in sending funds to an account number that is tied to that alias. Instead of typing out the entire account number you would simply write out the alias. Multi-Sig/Phased Transactions Voting System Apollo supports multi-signature accounts allowing more than one user to control an account. It also supports phased transactions which are transactions set up to occur after a certain condition is met. This could be after another transaction is sent or received, after a passage of time or after a certain block number is hit. The Apollo voting system allows users to create public or private polls for many purposes. Polls can be used to direct and manage funds from an account, elect officials or simply to gauge public opinion. This opens up near endless possibilities for collecting absolute, verified responses from designated sources. Possible use cases: Contracts, Voting, Signatures, Account Management, Arbitration, etc. Encrypted Messaging Encrypted messaging on the Apollo blockchain will allow any user to send and receive , untraceable messages and data files from one account to another. Utilizing the Olympus protocol, the user’s IP address and the transaction carrying the message will be invisible. Possible use cases: Untraceable Communication, Untraceable File Transfer, etc. Monetary System The monetary system within Apollo allows users to instantly create currencies that can be traded privately on Apollo’s decentralized exchange as well as freely on external exchanges. These currencies can be easily backed by Apollo giving them an instant, tangible value. Possible use Cases: Finance, Charity, Voter IDs, Escrows, Coupons, Currencies, etc. Decentralized Marketplace The Apollo decentralized marketplace will allow users to buy, sell and trade physical and digital goods using the Apollo currency. Users can list goods to be sold locally or even worldwide. Trading will be decentralized and untraceable allowing the free trade of any item. Future updates will include a review and reputation system aiding sellers in building a positive reputation based on experiences. Cloud Storage The Apollo data cloud allows any user to upload data to the blockchain for storage, retrieval and publishing of information. This gives a user the ability to upload a file to the blockchain, therefore receiving an irrefutable timestamp for that data. This timestamp could be helpful in establishing an absolute date for legal documents such as contracts and intellectual ownership. Possible use cases: Voting, Permits, Evidence, Court Records, Transparency, Death/Birth Certificates, Contracts, Wills, Trusts, Escrows, Maps, GPS Data, Signatures, Medical Records, Arbitration, Delivery Records, Certifications, etc. Advanced Account Control Accounts can be created in a way that allows group control. Utilizing the Apollo voting system a group can be granted the ability (via initial ownership or ownership of a specified token or asset) to vote on the transactions that are spent on the account. Possible use cases: Private Investment Fund, Private Insurance Fund, Charity Fund, Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO) Asset System Using the Apollo asset system, a user can issue, buy, sell and trade asset tokens intended to represent anything from public and private equity to real world commodities. Unlike other markets and cryptocurrencies, users will be able to trade these assets with 100% privacy. Possible use cases: Assets, Commodities, Derivatives, etc. Coin Shuffling Plugins Coin shuffling is an additional privacy feature allowing your Apollo, as well as other assets or currencies held in the account, to be simply and randomly shuffled between user accounts. This allows an account holder to anonymize their funds and transactions nearly instantly. The Apollo system allows for integration of 3rd party software into the core wallet. This will allow unimaginable growth via community developed features. Authentication System The Apollo authentication system allows a user to authenticate an account using the blockchain. This could be used to prove that a user is genuinely in control of a specific account. ABOUT FINATCH Finatch is a private Blockchain Technology Company which aim's at revolutrionizing the Blockchain Technology industry. Looking at the lack of stable, fast and reliable decentralized crypto exchanges which causes inconviniences to crypto traders in the space. We have come up with the solution to the problems faced by decentralized exchanges. There are basically two different types of exchanges: Centralized and Decentralized exchanges. We will focus on the Deentralized exchange system. We have a strong belief that Decentralized based crypto exchanges will be bigger than Centralized based crypto exchanges in the nearest future, because Blockchain is all about Decentralization. They will play an evermore role in the world of finance, and we call this FINATCH EXCHANGE. FINATCH EXCHANGE Finatch Exchange is a Decntralized crypto exchange, which is run and powered by the Finatch Smart Contract Blockchain. Problems Poor technical architecture in Decentralized exchanges There are a good number of exchanges set up by professionals who have little or no experience in finance or in operating an exchange. They often take the easiest route to get the system up and running. While this may work well in the beginning, as traffic grows, the system will not be able to handle the increased load. Exchange systems need to be engineered from the ground up with security, efficiency, speed, and scalability in mind. This often slows down the initial development, but is critical for long-term success. Our team has decades of combined experience building and maintaining world class financial systems that shape the economy. We understand how these systems are built from the ground up. Slow Smart Contract confirmation time Deployment of Smart contract on the blockchain takes time and causes inconveniences becauses of the poorly built blockchain, this results in a bad user experience in decentralized crypto exchanges. Our team has designed a new and capable type of Blockchain that speeds up confirmation time for smart contratcts, making the platform user friendly and smooth. Insecured Platform There are hundreds of exchanges that went down due to being hacked. Finatch is built to top notch quality, audited, and penetration tested. We have experience building financial systems to the highest security standards and strive to ensure security first. Poor market liquidity Professional traders and normal users are significantly affected by this. Having a shallow orderbook means high slippage when trading, which is very expensive for traders. Finatch’s team have been in both the finance and crypto industry for many years. The team has worked on and operated a number of exchanges, and have accumulated a large network of partners in this space. These partners will be key in bootstrapping the exchange. Poor customer service Traders are a different breed when it comes to users. Understanding the trader mentality is vital for running a successful exchange. Money is literally on-the-line. Many exchange service trades as if they were running a social media site. A 3-second delay in seeing your friends’ status update would hardly be noticed, but on an exchange, the same would be unacceptable, resulting in a torrent of user complaints. In additional to the technology stack, Finatch is built with service in mind. Finatch shares and supports responsibilities across the entire staff and company. When a trader has a problem, they get an answer directly from someone who knows the system and not someone reading from a script. Limited access to decentralized services There are few existing decentralized exchanges with close to good user interface and lacks quick and reasonable smart contract transaction fees, causing slow platorm functioning. Our team has designed a new and capable type of Blockchain that speeds up confirmation time for smart contratcts, making the platform user friendly and smooth. Poor internationalization and language support Blockchains have no borders. Most exchanges focus only on one language or one country. Our international multi-lingual team has extensive working experience in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa and we are able to smoothly support the global market. Lack of transparency All trading activities should be decentralized and open to the general public to insure trust and transparency in trades. Centralized crypto exchanges lack this quality. Finatch runs on a Decentralized crypto platform where all trading activities are transparent. Finatch is a Crypto Decentralized crypto exchange that has the feel and look of Centralized Crypto exchange but with more convinience And extra Blockchain Security Layer. An Exchange where you own your private keys. Finatch exchange is a huge decentralized trading exchange platform equipped with various sub-platform, trading tools and secure decentralized wallet. Finatch exchange consists of various sub platforms to choose from, this changes the trading experience namely: 1. Binary Platform: Fin vault platform, FinBox platform 2. Finatch trading tools: Finatch exchange have the best trading tools ready for traders on all our trading platform, taking trading experience to the next level. You can choose from our multiple trading tools the one that suits your trading skills. 3.Andriod and iOs Mobile Trading Application. MATCHING ENGINE With our Unique Smart Contract Blockchain Our matching engine is capable of sustaining 1,500,000 orders / second, making Finatch one of the fastest exchanges in the market today. You can be certain, on our exchange, that your orders will never be stuck due to the matching engine being overwhelmed. FEATURE ROLLOUT We will roll out the platform in roughly the following order: Decentralized (on-chain) exchange Spot trading Margin trading Futures Anonymous instant exchange and more... All buy back transactions will be annouced on the blockchain. FUNDS USAGE 35% of the funds will be used to build the Finatch platform and perform upgrades to the system, which inculdes team recruiting, training, and the development budget. 50% will be used for Finatch branding and marketing, including continuous promotion and education of Finatch and Blockchain innovations in industry mediums. A sufficient budget for various advertisment activities, to help Finatch become popular among investors, and to attract active users to the platform. 15% will be kept in reserve to cope with any emergency or unexpected situation that might come up. FINATCH BLOCKCHAIN Finatch Blockchain is a powerful unique blockchain built to solve the problems of long confirmation times and high transaction fees on smart contract Blockchains. We also solve the scalablity problem with block size, by increasing the block size limit to 1GB. Finatch Blockchain can handle more than 100,000,000 tranactions per second, with as little to as low as $0.001 tranaction fee, making our blockchain the most convinent and reliable blockchain in exixtence. Our Blockchain runs on Scrypt PoW/PoS and Fault Tolorence Algorithms, making it one the most secure blockchains. You can deploy smart contracts, decentralized applications and create your own (FRC Tokens) on our blockchain. BUILD DECENTRALIZED APPLICATIONS Combining a modified Bitcoin Core infrastructure with an intercompatible version of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Finatch Blockchain merges the reliability of Bitcoin’s unfailing blockchain with the endless possibilities provided by smart contracts. ABOUT FIN COIN FIN Coin is a decentralised Cryptocurrency based on Finatch. It is the local based Cryptocurrency of Finatch Blockchain. FIN Coins are cryptographic software tokens used to engage with distributed applications (DApps) and smart contracts on the Finatch Platform. FIN Coins will serve as the staking currency of the Finatch blockchain and fuel computational operations performed by the Finatch network. SPECIFICATION Total Pre-Mined Supply: 200,000,000 Block Target: 3-15 seconds Stake Return: ~5 FIN Coin Algorithm: Scrypt PoW/PoS and FT The FINATCH Foundation: Governance Structure The development and maintenance of the FINATCH Blockchain, as well as all services provided by FINATCH, are directed and supervised by the FINATCH Foundation - a non-profit organization, representing FINATCH’s stake and token holders as elaborated below. In order to avoid the inefficient conduct, open source and blockchain projects often suffer from, and to ensure a coherent and standardized implementation of the FINATCH blockchain, the FINATCH Foundation was established under the guidance and support of FINATCH Inc. The Foundation will oversee the development of the FINATCH Blockchain, advocate governance transparency, and promote the safety and harmony of the open source ecosystem. The design of the Foundation’s governance structure mainly considers sustainability, management effectiveness, and fund-raising security in the open source community. The Foundation consists of various committees, such as Executive Judgment, Code Review, Finance & HR, as well as Marketing & PR. The different committees work in cooperation to manage FINATCH’s daily operations and special occasions with detailed operational procedures and rules. Learn more here: https://finatch.org/governance-structure Decentralized Governance Protocol The Decentralized Governance Protocol (DGP) is designed so that individual blockchain parameters can be modified through a specially designed smart contract on the blockchain. Most importantly, this technology allows these blockchain parameters to be changed without any disruption to the ecosystem. After a setting change, no new software must be downloaded by users, and no intervention is needed from stakers, miners and node operators. The way the DGP works is relatively straightforward. First, a governing party for the DGP makes a proposal to change a parameter. Afterward, all the governing parties for the DGP can vote on the proposal, and if it receives enough approval votes, then the parameter change proposal becomes active. The proposal data is then placed in a standardized format and a particular storage space so that the blockchain software can easily access it without needing to execute the DGP contract directly. Learn more here: https://finatch.org/decentralized-governance-protocol The FINATCH Foundation will list the total assets that it holds including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Legal Tender, and FIN COINS. The Foundation will also seek complementary services to aid our efforts in transparency and professionalism with a professional auditing firm, legal team and a professional digital asset management solution. We hope this will help promote the healthy development of the FINATCH Project and serve as a model for other projects. IS REALCASINO? WHAT IS REALCASINO? PROBLEMS PROBLEMS WITH LEGACY ONLINE CASINOS: They are expensive to run. A huge initial investment is required to build the platform and cover / insure bets. This means building an online casino is only an option for well-funded insiders. They take a big cut of the profits. Legacy casinos typically run at 10% edge in order to recoup their investment and run at a profit. They can’t be trusted. It’s impossible to be sure they aren’t cheating by delivering less than random results. On top of that, there’s always the chance they will disappear with your money! PROBLEMS WITH THE FIRST GENERATION OF BLOCKCHAIN-BASED CASINOS: They are slow. Transactions on a public blockchain like Ethereum take on average 30 seconds. This is simply unacceptable for players who are used to instant results. They are expensive. Paying for individual transactions on a public blockchain has become prohibitively expensive. They are boring. Even the newest blockchain-based casinos – the ones that have largely solved the problem of speed and cost - are not designed by online casino professionals so they don’t offer the entertainment that casino players have come to expect. SOLUTION A REAL SOLUTION FOR THE CASINO MARKET: High Speed Our platform does not require a request from miners for every spin. We are developing a custom blockchain that delivers random results in real time. This is the key for gaming – instant response times. Low Cost RealCasino is a modular platform that enables the house to be decentralized. This eliminates the huge investment required to start operations, allowing the “house” to operate at much lower margins. Developers can build simple user interfaces that connect games & players. Provably Fair Mathematically verifiable randomly generated events mean that casino players can finally rest assured that the house isn’t cheating them. Escrow Funds are not held by a centralized entity, but rather enter into escrow via a smart contract making it impossible for the house to run off with your money. Players simply deposit, wager and withdraw. KYC The mass market expects but doesn’t like KYC (know your customer) procedures. KYC attached to a users ETH address allows the player to play with minimal effort. Entertaining and Mobile RealCasino is run by online casino professionals with over a decade of experience. We know how to bring real entertainment that online casino players have come to expect. Our gaming platform goes beyond desktop computers, bringing the best, most exciting games wherever you go with Mobile Live Casino. PRIMARY FEATURESOF REALCASINO PRIMARY FEATURES OF REALCASINO RealCasino is a cryptocurrency powered and distributed globalcasino that utilizes blockchain and smart contracts to deliver a truly fair gaming platform. Our mission is to utilize the decentralized power of smart contracts to provide a global casino platform that delivers the games that players typically expect (slots, table games, dice and Live Games) while providing the ultimate transparent gaming experience in real time (consumers are not prepared to wait more than a second or two for a game result). We achieve this by deploying a network of up to 1,000 nodes that deliver hardware generated random numbers. The smart contract randomly selects a node to deliver the result and the host of the node is remunerated a small fraction of the transaction. SPEED The public blockchain delivers safe, transparent transactions, however Ethereum transactions typically take 7 seconds. Clearly this is not acceptable in a gaming environment where the player expects instantaneous results. TRUST Blockchain technology enables a mathematically provable trust, eliminating the need to rely on a centralized authority. ENTERTAINMENT Entertainment is our number 1 focus. We believe crypto-casinos are a mass market product. To enable that, we are connecting real dealers, real games to the Blockchain and providing an infrastructure for global betting. PUBLIC NETWORK Crypto-based casinos utilise the public blockchain for registration, deposits, events and withdrawals INSTANT REGISTRATION Due to blockchain architecture, a player can register with one simple click and receive a wallet address for deposits and withdrawals. DISTRIBUTED PLATFORM Our platform has the visual content and the transactions that a casino requires. We are not the house and do not take any risk on bets placed. CASINO HYBRID INTERACTIVE PLAY SYSTEM «CASINO HYBRID INTERACTIVE PLAY SYSTEM» OR IN SHORT, «CHIP» IS THE CURRENCY AND UTILITY TOKEN ON OUR PLATFORM. Our platform is end to end “CHIP” with no leakage to fiat currency – players play with “CHIP” and all providers within the platform are remunerated with “CHIP”. “CHIP” can be refunded for local casino chips at any casino in the world. The player simply indicates to us the casino in which he wishes to play and the “CHIP” are converted for local play via our exclusive CHIP trading platform. We perform the KYC once and this is transferred across the blockchain securely to the casino. This is a marvelous business opportunity for those who wish to host their own domain name and seize the moment of the new, profitable, and very soon, leading sector in the online world of gambling. WHITE LABEL PLATFORM ATTRIBUTES • A reliable, expandable, and adaptable casino solution • Quick setup process - typically 1-2 days for a fully functioning domain • Fast distribution • Fast ROI (Return on Investment) • High security FOR PLAYERS: We are very proud to say that our ‘Noise Nodes’ patent pending technology is totally unique and a global first for the crypto casino industry. We offer an HD quality live dealer experience that is blockchain RNG powered. Our platform takes the real video and visualizes the results from DAO-based events. This will work over all devices, all the time, and in the most entertaining ways possible. From this moment in online history, crypto-casino players can fully audit and trust the results. This is a huge breakthrough in the casino world. FOR PLAYERS: Our technology can act as a bridge between the old world and the new. The player can continue to play at his favourite table once he leaves the casino. The local casino simply has to install a ‘LiveNode’ and they can stream the table to the player for continued play and revenue. Ultimately the land-based casinos will evolve into crypto-based resorts using blockchain technology, but we see this as a circa 10 year transition and during this transition period we will facilitate the connection between the old world and the new. This synchronistic programme will allow us to grow the player base rapidly as the casinos transit toward the virtual gaming world – something already occurring. Adopting our technology will assist in the attracting of players from both the crypto world and the conventional casino player. OUR PLATFORM PROVIDES • Comprehensive back office. • Branding Engine. • Odds & risk Management – especially valuable for Sports Book elements. • 100% Blockchain hosting and powered - no need for server infrastructure. How to buy Tronix video How to use Binance COINBASE REGISTER LINK Use this link and get 10 USD after your first 100 USD purchase BINANCE EXCHANGE REGISTER LINK Buying cryptocurrency is confusing for a lot of people. It's not a stock or a typical "investment." It's not like anything most people have ever seen or experienced. You don't get shares; instead you get digital coins or tokens. The coins are "better" than a paper dollar bill because they actually support a greater cause, as in Ethereum's case, to build a decentralized internet and host code and apps on a decentralized platform. And coins help "fuel" that cause, so to speak, without getting technical. For most people in the U.S., Coinbase would be the easiest option to buy Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Litecoin (it doesn't support any others yet). After verifying your account, you can add a number of payment methods including credit or debit cards, U.S. bank accounts, or even wire transfers of funds. Other options for exchanges that will take U.S. dollars for coins are Kraken, and Gemini in the U.S. Typically you will need to verify your account with a driver's license and add other details to expand your buy limits. Since cryptocurrencies are "hard currencies," the exchanges don't want to risk getting ripped off, since you can't reverse a cryptocurrency transaction once it's done. If you are looking for some of the newer coins like NEO that are making big movement but haven't made their way to the aforementioned exchange sites, you can look into Bittrex, Poloniex or Livecoin. You can transfer Bitcoin or Ethereum to these platforms from Coinbase and then exchange it for any other digital currency that you want. If you are outside the U.S., here are a few options for exchanges that take your local currency: BTC Markets (Australia), Bitthumb or Coinone (Korea), CHBTC or Huobi (China), and QuadrigaCX (Canada.) You can find a full list on this page of where to buy Ethereum for your local currency.
